Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dedicated team in our outpatient medical oncology / hematology private practice on a per diem basis.

As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care, supporting the medical team, and ensuring a positive experience for our patients undergoing cancer treatment.

This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assess and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician.
• Exhibit passion for and experience in Oncology patient care
• Manage patients with oncologic and hematologic diagnoses
• Perform basic lab tests such as phlebotomy, collection of other lab specimens, and EKGs
• Prepare and administer Injections and document medication under a physician’s order
• Duties will include administration of IV, and oral medications, vascular access device maintenance and monitoring, chemotherapy / immunotherapy administration, blood administration, therapeutic phlebotomy, assessment of patient symptoms and the management of side effects, and over all collaboration on patient treatment plans
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families throughout treatment
• Triages patient / family phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
• Assesses patient / family needs and provides teaching.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Graduate of an accredited LPN program
• Current New York State LPN license
• 2+ years of clinical experience in an outpatient oncology setting preferred
• Strong clinical skills, including IV insertion and medication administration.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
