Senior Tax Analyst
RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position will assist with all tax accounting activities at Talos Energy including but not limited to :
- Prepare quarterly federal and state income tax provision.
- Prepare journal entries related to tax as part of month end and quarter end close.
- Assist with required quarterly and annual SOX controls.
- Prepare estimated federal, state and franchise tax estimated payments.
- Monitor and maintain the tax compliance calendar.
- Prepare book / tax differences for taxable income estimate, income tax provision and cash tax forecasts.
- Maintain the tax basis balance sheet.
- Maintain the property roll forward for tax purposes and reconciliation of book to tax basis of property.
- Assist in Ad Valorem / Property taxes, transactional, indirect taxes and any other tax issues.
- Conduct tax research using online tools and resources.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
- Big Four experience 3+ years at a Senior Level or 5 - 6 years Oil and Gas industry experience.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in federal tax compliance and strong income tax accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree with focus on accounting, tax or related discipline.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Corporate tax experience required (partnership experience is a plus).
- Basic understanding of ASC 740 concepts required.
- International tax experience is a plus.
- Industry experience in a public company is a plus.
- Willingness to problem solve and learn is required.
- Strong self-starter with initiative, attention to details and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be comfortable working with various people within the Company, our external auditors and other advisors.
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES :
CPA is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
