Job Description

Assists staff, providers, residents and medical students with patient care, clerical, and organizational tasks using a team based approach in providing patient care.

Responsible for appointment scheduling, diagnostic testing and medical record management for the Department of Surgery (General Surgery but includes Vascular and Colorectal).

Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the care services. Conveys a positive image of USFTGP.

Note : Must successfully demonstrate competencies within job position.

Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds.

Ability to stand for extended periods. Fine motor skills. Visual acuity. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Qualifications

Qualifications

MA : Education : High School diploma or equivalent required. Certification / Registration as a CMA or RMA through one of the national certifying organizations required.

BLS / AED certification is required and must be maintained; demonstrated competency within 90 days required.

Experience : Experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare facility preferred.

LPN : High School diploma or equivalent. Licensed as Practical Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 maintain an active Florida license.

BLS / AED certification is required and must be maintained; demonstrated competency within 90 days required.

EMT : High School diploma or equivalent required. Registration as an EMT (NREMT). EMC Certified may substitute. BLS and AED certification is required and must be maintained;

demonstrated competency within 90 days required. Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience : Minimum of two years of experience as a EMT or EMR.

Triage / Vascular Experience Preferred
