GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The junior staff accountant supports the accounting department by performing routine accounting activities. This role assists in ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and company procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable : Process invoices, verify discrepancies, prepare and process payments, and assist in collections as needed.
  • General Ledger Maintenance : Assist in maintaining the general ledger by recording transactions, updating accounts, and reconciling balances.
  • Financial Reporting : Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, under the guidance of a senior accountant or Controller.
  • Budgeting Support : Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts by gathering and analyzing financial data.
  • Audit Support : Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Expense Reconciliation : Reconcile company expenses by verifying entries and comparing them to supporting documents.
  • Tax Compliance : Assist in preparing tax returns and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
  • Financial Analysis : Conduct basic financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Software Proficiency : Utilize accounting software and spreadsheets to maintain financial records and generate reports accurately.
  • Documentation and Record keeping : Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation for audit and reference purposes.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in accounting or finance roles desired, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn with a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • This role may involve occasional overtime during month-end and year-end close processes.
