About the Department
The Computer Science Department is housed in the College of Arts & Sciences and offers programs leading to the B.S., M.S.
and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and Data Science. There are currently over 2,800 undergraduate majors and over 400 graduate students enrolled in Computer Science, which makes it the largest academic department at Georgia State University.
Position Description
The Department is expanding its research and teaching profile and is seeking to hire multiple assistant professors to start in August 2025.
Candidates with research interests and expertise in areas of Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Software Engineering, System Design, and Secure Software Development are encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates are expected to develop an independent research agenda, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, supervise and mentor students, and participate in institutional service activities.

Required Education
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related fields at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
Preferred qualifications include experience and focused research in the areas of Generative AI, AI Systems and Applications, Software Engineering, and Software Security, as demonstrated through publications in journals or conference proceedings and other professional activities.
Further, candidates should demonstrate their preparation to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and student mentorship.
Candidates with potential for or experience in securing extramural funding are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates are expected to establish and maintain a successful research program, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and work in multidisciplinary settings.
