Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Food & Nutrition Supervisor / Sous Chef assists the Manager in all aspects of department supervision. Duties would include :
- Management of food service personel
- Providing oversight to the day to day work duties of all kitchen staff
- Ensuring all shifts are appropriately staffed
- Ensuring that all meals and created and dietary requirments are met
- Assisting with cooking, sanitizing and overall maintenence of the food service department
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Assisting with the delivery of food goods and inventory
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :
Education : High School diploma or GED required .
Experience : 3+ years of experience within the food industry; preferably in a hospital setting.
Licensure / Certification : State of IL / City of Chicago sanitation certification.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED :
Education : Graduate from of a culinary school; some culinary college related experince
Experience : 5+ years working in a hospital food service department; prior experience with managing a staff of 5 or more employees.
General cooking and sanitation knowledge and experience.

Environmental Conditions : Works in kitchen, serving line, dining room, food storage areas and other areas of the hospital.

Job Classification : Non-Exempt; Hours vary based on staffing needs and include day, evening, night and weekend shifts.
