JOB SUMMARY
The Nurse Technician functions under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse as a vital member of the healthcare team. The individual will perform delegated functions of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
The Nurse Technician will utilize skills achieved through their educational programs and / or orientation within the scope of the position.
Hours : 2 : 30pm-11 : 00-pm, every other weekend and holiday rotation
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Performs delegated functions of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to ensure patients receive the appropriate care needed.
2. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive patient care.
3. Prioritizes patient care assignments based on changes in patient’s condition and unanticipated interruptions, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, to achieve optimal, safe and cost effective patient and organizational outcomes.
4. Assists with facilitating interdisciplinary communication to help prioritize communications, optimize team functioning and enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
5. Provides assessment information as directed by supervising Registered Nurse and collaborates with other staff, patients, families and interdisciplinary healthcare team.
6. Assists providers with exams, tests, procedures and administers other therapies, medications and treatments assigned by designated Registered Nurse to effectively treat the patient’s medical condition(s).
7. Documents patient information in an accurate, concise, and timely manner to allow others to review and utilize in future care for the patient.
8. Assesses and addresses patient education needs under the direction of assigned Registered Nurse to promote patient self-management.
9. Participates in quality improvement activities to promote quality healthcare.
10. Assists in emergency situations and remains current in emergency nursing procedures to ensure appropriate response based on the emergency at hand.
11. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.
12. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Minimum Required : Nursing student actively enrolled in a board approved school of professional nursing, has graduated from such program and does not hold a temporary permit, or who has been unsuccessful on the nursing licensure exam and is retaking the exam Nurse Technician will only be available up to 6 months from date of graduation.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required : None
Preferred / Optional : Experience with direct patient care in an acute care setting.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
Minimum Required : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred / Optional : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
