Leidos is seeking a talented Software Engineer that is seeking new challenges to become a Software Safety Engineer. Leidos will partner you with experienced software safety and system safety engineers to expand your knowledge and become a key contributor in Department of Defense and NASA projects.

Individuals with previous software safety experience are preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

This position will assure the safety of various programs to defense software safety standards or NASA software safety standards.

Tasks include : developing software safety plans and standards, working with the customer system safety and software safety organizations, working with system safety to analyze systems for hazards, developing software safety requirements, ensuring the software safety requirements are implemented and tested in the software systems, working with suppliers to ensure supplier products and processes meet program software safety standards, and generating software safety assessment reports.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree.
  • Candidate must have 12+ years of relevant technical experience with a BS degree or 16+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Candidate must demonstrate basic competency in real-time safety or mission critical software systems development using languages such as C, C++, or Ada.
  • Strong analytical skills along with a personal drive for details and quality workmanship are a must.
  • Candidate must possess an aptitude for the technical skills required for software safety including understanding systems and the results of potential system failures.
  • The applicant must demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • The applicant must have good communication skills.
  • Candidate must have proven leadership skills with the ability to affect outcomes including the ability to persuade on technical topics.
  • Being self-motivated, paying attention to details, and working under deadlines are key elements of this position as well.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a pattern of ethical decisions and a commitment to integrity at the individual level that conform to Dynetics' Code of Ethics.
  • Candidate must be a resident of or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven experience with software safety standards including NASA Standards NASA-STD-8719.13C, NASA-STD-8739.8, NPR 7150.

2C, NASA-HDBK-4008, MIL-STD-882E, AMCOM-385-17, MIL HDK-516B, RTCA DO-178C, or ISO 26262.

Software safety experience on DoD and NASA programs is preferred. Software safety experience in civil aviation, nuclear, automotive, or medical industries will be considered.

Pay Range : Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
