Job Title : Learn-to-Swim Instructor (Part Time)
Reports to : Natatorium Manager
Dept / School : Natatorium
Work Year : Varies by the season
Base Salary : $20 / per hour
PRIMARY PURPOSE :
To instruct and demonstrate proper swimming skills with an emphasis toward competitive swimming.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Certification :
Minimum age 16
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Must exhibit a love for working with children
Flexible, positive, and able to try new ideas
Ability to work evenings during the school year
Ability to work either mornings, evenings, or both during the Summer season
Maintain a professional, mature, and positive teaching style while instructing
Experience :
Experience in teaching swimming classes and individuals of various ages and ability levels
Competitive swimming experience preferred
One year of customer service preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
Adhere to the established learn- to-swim curriculum.
Create an educational, safe, and inviting experience for all participants.
Evaluate all students in their assigned class.
Update skill levels through the online registration system.
Teach a variety of swim skill levels.
Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards and that materials and equipment are safe.
Communicate with parents on a regular basis.
Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations.
Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED :

Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors :
Maintain emotional control under stress. Exposure to high humidity and potential chemical hazards in pool water. Moderate lifting;
crouch / kneeling; sitting / standing. Work on slippery surfaces.
