Job Description :

Mechanic I (Full-time)

Job Summary :

Provide support by diagnosing and repairing light, medium, and heavy equipment.

Reports to : Fleet Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities : None

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Diagnose issues and work on various types of construction equipment and vehicles, including hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, and gas and diesel engines.
• Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles and equipment
• Basic knowledge of fabrication and different types of welding
• Test drive vehicles after repairs are complete to ensure mechanical soundness
• Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records
• Make recommendations to the Fleet Manager for more detailed work
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required skills and abilities :

5 years of experience as a mechanic

Knowledge of systems within heavy, medium, and light-duty trucks, tractors, trailers, and construction equipment

Must pass a Motor Vehicle Record check with minimal infractions

Ability to work overtime, weekends, and nights as needed

Willing and able to pass a physical examination and drug and alcohol screenings

Excellent communication skills, computer skills, and written skills

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or GED.

Completion of the equipment mechanics training course is desired.

Physical Requirements :

The majority of work is performed in a mechanic shop, exposed to outside temperatures

Work includes heavy lifting (typically up to 50-100 lbs.)

Exposure to noise, fumes, vibrations, and heights

Exposure to prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, crawling, and climbing.
