Collins Engineers, Inc., an ENR Top 500 Design Firm providing inspection and design to the transportation, marine, construction, and land development industries, is seeking a self-motivated Structural Project Engineer to be an integral part of our team in Boise, Idaho.

The ideal candidate must have an interest in diving and project management. Collins will send candidate to dive school if they do not have this training.

This position will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of structural inspection and design projects that include :

  • Inspection of bridges and waterfront structures
  • Ancillary and sign structure inspections
  • Above and below water bridge inspection including routine and fracture critical bridge inspections and reporting, bridge rehabilitation design, and bridge load ratings
  • Design of bridges, transportation structures, earth retention structures, and waterfront structures
  • Oil & Gas refinery facilities inspections and repair design

This position is a mix of office and fieldwork with local travel in the northwest.

Position Description

The Project Engineer I contributes to the successful execution of projects by performing the following duties.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides technical engineering information to Project Manager to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations on-field and / or design issues.
  • Independently performs moderately difficult engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.
  • Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
  • Is active in technical societies.
  • Responsible for small to moderately difficult projects from inception to completion
  • Has limited communication with clients.
  • Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
  • Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff
  • Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree and / or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience or the equivalent thereof.
  • Experience in the inspection and / or design of, but not limited to, bridges, roadways, railroads, marinas, and / or ports a plus.
  • Must have desire to perform underwater bridge inspections and willingness to attend dive school paid for by Collins Engineers

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • Valid driver’s license
