The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to advancing health equity and play a key role in shaping the future of nursing by engaging in a variety of responsibilities that encompass teaching, scholarship, practice, and service.
Teaching
- Utilize innovative teaching methodologies, technology-enhanced learning strategies, and simulation-based experiences to facilitate student learning and achievement of program outcomes
- Mentor students on academic and professional development, including career pathways, development opportunities, and licensure / certification preparation.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and faculty.
Scholarship
Candidates should have a focused or developing area of scholarship and engage in scholarly activities, including publications, presentations to advance nursing knowledge and practice
Professional Practice
- Maintain knowledge and skills in the area of clinical expertise
- Maintain advanced certification in area of expertise (if appropriate)
- Serve as a role model for students by demonstrating exemplary clinical skills, critical thinking / clinical judgment abilities, and ethical decision-making in nursing practice.
- Foster partnerships with healthcare organizations and community agencies to facilitate clinical placements, promote interprofessional collaboration, and address healthcare needs in the community.
Service
- Contribute to the governance, leadership, and committee work of the School of Nursing, university, professional organizations, and community groups at levels aligned with rank.
- Participate in accreditation processes, program evaluation, curriculum development, and other academic initiatives to maintain program quality and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Engage in community service activities, health promotion initiatives, and advocacy efforts to address healthcare disparities and promote health equity.
Qualifications
- DNP or
- RN licensure in the state of Maryland; minimum of 2 years of clinical practice in Child Health Nursing
- Experience or commitment to developing experience working with a diverse faculty, student, and staff community
Faculty appointment / rank for this position will depend on the candidate's qualifications.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination.
This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.
Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
