Executive Chef Job Description
Job Overview
The Executive Chef is responsible to lead and manage the kitchen staff by creating and fostering a
positive team environment. Plan menus and prepare high-quality dishes ensuring that each dish is
of exceptional quality and cost-effective. Maintain an impeccably clean kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Direct, prepare or supervise cooking and other food preparation activities on a daily basis
- Plan menus with new or existing culinary creations ensuring the variety and quality of the servings
- Determine food and supply needs based on rotating menus
- Supervise and train kitchen staff
- Establish production and staff schedules to ensure timely delivery of food services
- Inspect food products and supplies as needed
- Establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas
Ensure that kitchen staff follows and completes schedules as assigned
Check food before it is served to customers for quality, consistency of presentation and visual
appeal
- Control and minimize waste
- Comply with food safety regulations and procedures
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree specializing in hotel / restaurant management or culinary arts, or equivalent
experience required.
- 5+ years culinary experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant or catering venue
- Good leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and coordinate activities in pressing situations
