Responsibilities :

- Design Products and Develop Production Process of New Products
- Develop products based on customers' requests, sales team requirements and production team feedback.
- Product Engineer will design products, create drawings, work with machine shops for prototype construction, test, and revise prototype design.
- Select Components and Materials
- Product Engineer will select materials and components appropriate for the application based on the requirements of the project guidelines.
- Components and materials will not be limited to what is currently in use, product engineers are encouraged to research and test new materials that may provide a superior finished product.
- Establish Product Specifications and Quality Standards
- Product Engineer will establish product specifications based on results of the R&D process.
- Product Engineer must create production / process guidelines, develop quality requirements and design testing fixtures to ensure a seamless transition from R&D to production.
- Collaborate with Vendors and Production Team
- Product Engineer will identify vendors with capabilities that meet the needs of the project, product, or part.
- Product Engineer will coordinate production of prototypes, conduct testing, and develop the strategy for integration into full scale production.

Work Environment :
Primary work environment is the office and the production floor.
- Able to lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
- Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) through the entire shift.
- Ability to be aware of surroundings for safety concerns.
- Frequent standing on feet for extended periods of time; occasional stooping and walking required.
- Employee may be required to lead production shop tours.
- Employee will have meetings in the shop requiring the wearing of personal protective equipment.
- Able to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
- Able to sit for prolonged time periods plus occasional walking to stooping.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in R&D or product development in the fastener or related industry.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design and principles.
- Proficiency with CAD software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD (3D Modeling Software).
- Basic knowledge of material sciences.
- Basic understanding of Finite Element Modeling (FEA / FEM).
- Knowledge of testing and data analysis techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills (critical thinking).
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Advanced Skills - Expertise using Autodesk Inventor 3D modeling software.
- Advanced Skills - Knowledge of Nastran or Autodesk Inventor FEA module.
- Advanced Skills - Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical team members.
