About The Position

Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience required.

EPIC experience required.

License :

Valid nursing license required.

Certifications :

BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Must-Have :

Previous charge experience required.

Experience with patient ratios of 3-4.

Charting system experience required.

Description :

This unit is unique, seeing a variety of patients.

Patients present with both urgent and non-urgent conditions but are typically more stable than those in an emergency room.

Most patients are discharged home, while some may be admitted.

Appointments are set based on calls received from primary teams or oncologists.

Patients may come from other areas of the hospital or directly from home.

This smaller unit fosters strong relationships among staff members and offers a supportive environment.

Nurses will have the opportunity to develop numerous skills.

They will create relationships with patients in a less acute setting.

Patient Diagnoses :

Conditions treated include sickle cell crisis, fever, abdominal pain, uncontrolled pain, anemia, and nausea / vomiting / dehydration.

Staffing :

The unit is staffed 24 / 7 by a team of advanced practice providers and nurses.

Supervision is provided by attending physicians.

Daily Census :

The unit operates with a daily patient census of 14.

There are 14 rooms available for patient care.

Additional Unit Information :

Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.

Special equipment utilized includes PCA pumps.

The unit has specific compliance and credentialing requirements that must be adhered to.

Professional references are required, including one from a manager or supervisor.
