We are seeking an experienced Manager, Guest Communications and Community Relations to join our team. This is a hybrid position and will be based in our Fort Lauderdale office.

In this role you’ll be responsible for creating and distributing quality communications to guests both before their cruise and once they are on board.

This involves deploying time-sensitive operational and incident communications; ensuring these communications are aligned with the company's strategy to maintain the highest level of guest support, satisfaction, and loyalty;

and meeting operational requirements. The request for these communications can come from a variety of sources, including Marine Operations, Hotel Operations, the ship in question, Official Ships Position Schedule (OSPS) notifications, Emergency Response Operations-level events, and more.

Additionally, this manager plays a crucial role in fostering positive relationships within Southern California and South Florida communities by engaging with local stakeholders, coordinating community events, and supporting Princess community partners such as Arc Broward and the Boys & Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of guest communications including pre-cruise operational messages (travel document requirements, flight arrival / departure guidelines, smoking policy, itinerary updates, changes in embark or disembark, shore excursion updates or cancellations) and real-time voyage updates (itinerary changes due to weather, general voyage information relevant to guests like compensation, necessary emergency communications) in the form of letters or captain’s announcements.
  • Assist in coordinating and overseeing community outreach events and volunteer activities to strengthen relationships with Southern California and South Florida communities and showcase corporate social responsibility.
  • Help implement educational programs and initiatives to raise awareness about Princess Cruises talent pipeline, environmental conservation, and responsible tourism among passengers and key homeport communities.
  • Support established strategic partnerships to enhance community engagement and support Princess’ corporate giving plan.
  • Maintain and refine editorial style, writing conventions, and the Princess voice in all guest communications and ensure all are applied consistently.
  • Maintain and refine effective and efficient operational assets to guide processes, procedures.
  • Lead and support a team of Specialists.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing, or related professional experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in public relations, corporate communications, or a related field preferably in the travel and / or hospitality industry and ideally in the cruise industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to customize messages to specific audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to work in multiple software applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, and other platforms.
  • Creative, strategic thinker and writer with strong editing skills and a proven ability to create, own, and execute comprehensive communication plans.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure all communications are accurate, complete, clear, and align with the Princess voice and corporate style.
  • Experience working directly with senior leadership.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including after hours on weekdays, as well as weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations. Operates with a sense of urgency and is action-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment demonstrates sensitivity, inclusiveness, and diplomacy.
  • Operates with the highest level of integrity.
  • Effective cross-departmental collaboration skills.
  • Project management proficiency.

  • Knowledge of industry regulations and trends, guest communications best practices.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Holland America is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).

This is a hybrid role, based in our Fort Lauderdale, FL office. Candidates must be driving distance and comfortable going into the office 3 days per week.

  • Base Salary Range : $89,600.00-$121,000.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired.

Final base pay is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
