This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Facilities, Security, and Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, supporting all Blue Origin facilities.

The Level III Manufacturing Engineer will oversee production and manufacturing processes of the assigned product line. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness of manufacturing operations, ensuring all products meet high standards of quality and reliability.

  • The position is based in Merritt Island, Florida.
  • Potential travel up to 10% for training and support activities.
  • Shift rotation, off-shift support (2nd or 3rd shift), extended hours, and weekend support may be required.

Responsibilities Include (but not limited to) :

  • Develop and implement manufacturing plans, procedures, and policies, ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and safety regulations.
  • Employ Design for Excellence (DfX) principles, focusing on Design for Manufacturability, to improve process efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with product design teams to ensure manufacturability and scalability.
  • Manage projects for process improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
  • Introduce new technologies and methodologies to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Train, mentor, and guide early career manufacturing engineers and production staff.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace, or related fields.
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, especially in aerospace.
  • Proven leadership in managing complex projects throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality systems.
  • Familiarity with CAD, MES, and ERP systems.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience working in cleanroom environments.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and commissioning tooling and fixtures.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse teams and geographies.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in space solar array systems design, development, and testing.
  • Knowledge of space solar array manufacturing and testing processes.
  • Proficiency with NASA standards and regulations.
  • Experience with automation and advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Experience working in regulatory environments, including AS9100 standards.
