Job Summary and Qualifications

The staff nurse serves as a member of the Nursing Care team who is ultimately responsible and accountable to the patient for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient focused, outcome oriented care.

Will develop competencies for functioning safely in all areas Newborn Services. Nursing plan of care will include newborns.

Seasonal Program Requirements Seasonal PRN Status with a Full-Time (Night) Schedule Program Runs 8 / 25 / 24-4 / 5 / 25

  • All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period
  • Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period
  • During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee)
  • Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital
  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy
  • Seasonal Staff willnotbe eligible for extra shift bonuses
  • Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation
  • Current FT / PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligibleto join the Seasonal program for 2024-2025 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year
  • Current employees of HWS arenot eligiblefor the seasonal program
  • Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department

What qualifications you will need :

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Graduate of a Nursing Program from an accredited school of nursing
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Louisiana, or compact licensure
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • 1 year acute care experience in Pediatrics required
