Flexible Packaging Converting Lead Operations - Salt Lake City The Flexible Packaging Converting Lead will play a key role in overseeing and coordinating the printing and converting flexible packaging film into bags and pouches.
They will ensure that all production activities run smoothly and efficiently. As a leader, you will be responsible for guiding and mentoring film converting operators, maintaining equipment, and ensuring product quality meets the highest standards.
A two week offsite machine training session will be required This role reports to the Production Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead a team of film print and converting operators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance and productivity Establish production processes and train other operators Learn how to operate a state of the art flexible packaging film converting machine.
Maintain equipment, troubleshoot equipment problems, perform prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment as required and identify repairs if needed Monitor quality throughout production runs, making adjustments as necessary to maintain consistency and excellence Coordinate with the production manager and planner / scheduler to schedule and prioritize jobs, ensuring deadlines are met Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all team members follow safety guidelines and best practices Maintain accurate production records, including job logs, material usage, and equipment maintenance reports Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency enhancements, and cost reduction.
Implement changes when approved Conduct training sessions for converting operators, keeping them updated on industry trends, equipment advancements, and best practices Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality control and printing, to ensure seamless production processes Operate Converting equipment as assigned Read and understand orders to assure correct materials are produced to company standards Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department manager Operate in a safe and efficient manner Update relevant MIS systems with job and production information Perform other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS High School graduate, or completion of GED required A minimum of two years’ experience in a print packaging environment.
Experience with flexible packaging films is desired Previous experience with Digital, Offset or Flexographic printing. Ability to travel for training on equipment.
