Job Description
Principal Investigator, David Traver, PhD, is looking fora Research Associate II to join theteam!
Working under directsupervision, the Research Associate II performs routine andincreasingly complex laboratory tasks and procedures and developstechnical expertise in one or more areas relevant to researchprojects.
The Research Associate II will participate in researchactivities involving all aspects of the research process, toinclude, but not limited to;
investigation, technical,testing / validation of results, and report findings. The Associatewill perform a variety of routine experimental protocols andprocedures to support the objectives of laboratory researchprojects.
The Associate will observe and comply with safetystandards and procedures, assist in preparation of data forpublication and / or presentation at scholarly meetings, and assistin general laboratory maintenance.
This position does not havesupervisory responsibilities.
What arethe Primary Duties andResponsibilities?
- Performs a varietyof increasingly complex experimental protocols and procedures andassist in the design of new complex or unusual protocols andtechniques.
- Keeps accurate and detailed recordsof experiments and results, and assist in identifying andtroubleshooting of unexpected results.
- Orderslaboratory supplies and supports laboratoryoperations.
- Maintains lab equipment and relatedrecords and may coordinate use of labequipment.
- Assists in the operation ofspecialized equipment, as required by the area ofresearch.
- Assists in preparation of data forpublication and / or presentation at scholarlymeetings.
- Observes and complies with safetystandards and procedures.
- Orients researchlaboratory assistants or lower level research associates andundergraduate student researchers on day-to-day lab operations androutine procedures.
Qualifications
Education & ExperienceRequirements :
- Bachelor's Degree in ascience related field required
- One (1) year ofresearch laboratory experiencerequired
- Experience with zebrafish a majorplus!
- Familiar with routine laboratoryprocedures, experimental protocols, and overall laborganization
- Applicant must be highly motivatedand able to work independently.
- Must havesuperior interpersonal, communication and organization skills andthe ability to work across company disciplines and functionalunits, and computer applicationexperience.
- Must possess computer skills toinclude, but not limited to, Excel andWord.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multipleclerical trials, and attention todetails.
