Arcland Property Company (Arcland) was founded in 2006 and has become the leading developer and private self storage investor in the Washington / Baltimore Metropolitan region, amassing a portfolio of over 50 properties valued well in excess of $1 billion and climbing.
To-date Arcland has grown primarily from the ground-up with over a dozen projects currently in development and construction.
Additionally, Arcland is in the early stages of creating an acquisition strategy with a small group of institutional investors to drive further asset and geographic growth.
Self Storage Plus is a regionally dominant self storage management company. Acquired by Arcland Industries in 2018, it has tripled to over 75 properties in six years and is now the 11th largest manager of self storage nationally.
It manages the Arcland portfolio, as well as other properties for a select group of outside self storage owners.
Role & Responsibilities
An experienced accounting and financial reporting leader is needed to ensure appropriate staffing, technology, reporting and financial controls are in place to support the growth of both companies.
Reporting to the CEO and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Vice President of Accounting and Financial Reporting (VP) will be responsible for the development of the financial management strategy and contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals.
In addition to the strategic components, the VP will be charged with evaluating existing accounting strategy and policies and recommending and implementing leading-edge enhancements.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an accounting executive with audit experience and a proven track record of creative problem-solving to contribute in the early stages of a high-growth, focused organization.
Strategy, Vision and Leadership
- Advise the CEO and other key members of senior management on financial planning budgeting, cash management, investment priorities, and policy and control matters.
- Contribute to the development of strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization.
- Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the CEO informed of all critical issues.
Team Development / Leadership
- Lead, manage, and be accountable for developing the accounting team through implementation of EOS.
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.
Operations
- Evaluate, upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, financial reporting and other critical procedures.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process.
- Provide analytical support to internal management team including development of customized internal management reporting capabilities.
- Improve administrative and operational accounting services such as treasury management, payment processing, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing.
Qualifications
- Get, Want, and have the Capacity to lead within our organization
- Business or Accounting degree mandatory, a master’s in accounting is preferred
- CPA highly preferred
- Minimum 10 years experience in a senior management role ideally with both external audit and in-house financial management experience gained in a high-growth organization
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Strong mentoring and coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise
- Self reliant, good problem solver, results oriented
- Energetic, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives.
