Licensed Practical Nurse Spinal Cord

JOB REQUIREMENTS : Duties The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) serves at the point of care at the Zablocki VA Medical Center and its Community Based Outpatient Clinics.

The Licensed Practical Nurse function is to provide quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran population of varying complexity in a variety of settings - primary care, acute care, sub acute, rehabilitation, palliative and long-term care, inpatient, outpatient and home care.

The Licensed Practical Nurse possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting.

Major Duties : Communicates and interacts appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers. Maintains confidentiality of patient / employee information electronically, verbally, and written.

Works and functions within a safe manner including infection control and operation of equipment. Integrates and applies pertinent aspects of the Medical Center performance improvement program into his / her professional practice.

Utilizes nursing research, evidence based practice and literature in daily practice. Provides care appropriate to the bio-psychosocial needs of the population served.

Provides culturally competent care to a diverse patient population. Practices requirements include Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Health Care Provider, through the American Heart Association.

Work Schedules Available : Full-time on Nights / 3rd shift & Full-time on PM 's / 2nd shift mixture of 8 hour & 12 hour tours available all with weekend and Federal holiday rotation A Recruitment or Relocation Incentive, up to $10,000 is authorized for these vacancies.

Physical Requirements : Walking, bending, stooping, and lifting in the direct care of patients; some extended periods of sitting and / or standing.
