District Sales Manager
WIRTGEN GROUP a John Deere Company, is an internationally operating company in the road construction industry. WIRTGEN AMERICA has over 30+ years of providing customer-focused service and has established a strong customer base across North America.
The District Sales Manager is a highly visible position responsible for developing new relationships and fostering existing relationships within the road construction, mineral, and mining industry to sell machinery across all lines of Wirtgen Group equipment including WIRTGEN, VÖGELE, HAMM, and KLEEMANN products.
The current opening covers California to fully support our dealer relationship. Ideal candidates will currently reside within the state.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develops and executes plans with their dealer network to achieve market share objectives and growth plans.
- Develops lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information obtained through relationships, business directories, industry publications, product / service advertisements, trade shows, various websites, and other resources.
- Travels (50-70%) through assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to develop market opportunities for road construction and mineral technology products.
- Works closely with the dealer to ensure sufficient product inventory to satisfy cyclical demand.
- Manages Company promotional programs, financing programs, and product pricing within an assigned territory.
- Works with the dealer / customer to fully understand the need and recommends specific standard or modified machines best suited for dealer / customer's use.
- Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
- Estimates date of dealer delivery, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
- Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
- Enters product data and other associated sales data for current dealers and prospects into a computer database.
- Communicates with the internal Wirtgen America support team to provide on-time delivery and exceptional service after the sale.
- Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts.
- Follows the product order and communicates with the dealer for delivery, anticipates delivery issues, and works diligently to resolve them.
- Attends trade shows within the industry to learn about products, and competition, and create new business relationships.
- Manage as a liaison between manufacturer and dealer.
- Drives results via distribution system partners and / or direct end customers.
- Works to identify and align resources for increased sales and develop sales forecasts.
- Submits weekly and monthly management reports.
Education / Experience :
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year College or university.
- 5+ years of related sales experience in heavy equipment, mining / mineral processing, and / or road construction machines.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive business relationships.
- Must possess solid computer skills for communication and presentation materials.
- Must reside in the sales territory and be experienced in the industry.
- Accustomed to 75% travel.
