Our client in Edison, NJ, is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to join their team. This role involves planning, managing, and directing the work of production personnel to ensure cost-effective, quality production according to standards.
Duties :
- Assisting the Production manager in their roles and responsibilities.
- Overseeing daily operations and monitoring production supervisors.
- Directing subordinates to achieve compliance with quality and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, OSHA).
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety).
- Enforcing GMPs, SSOPs, Lock out / Tag out, and MSDS procedures.
- Providing relief to the Production Manager as needed.
- Promoting positive employee relations with the union and issuing disciplinary actions.
- Maintaining a safe working environment and participating in accident investigations.
- Promoting employee safety in all areas of operations.
- Ensuring cleanliness and adherence to G. M. P.’s in the work area.
- Fulfilling other related duties assigned by the Production Manager or Plant General Manager.
Requirements :
- Prior manufacturing experience with direct management of employees.
- Associate degree or Higher, completion of formal management skills training program to include certification as required (i.
e. AMA, AIB, etc.), baking or industry certifications acceptable.
- Physical capability to move around the plant, including reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling as required in a production operation.
- Capacity to inspect products and ensure adherence to quality control standards and customer specifications regarding size, shape, color, cut, etc.
- Proficiency in understanding and implementing necessary safety procedures and signs.
- Skill in generating advanced, detailed reports using spreadsheets, memos / letters, email, etc., on a PC.
- Willingness to perform other duties as deemed integral by management.
Pay and Shift :
