Position Summary
The Nursing Unit Secretary performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education : High School Diploma or GED preferred
License / Certifications : Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
Experience : 1 year of hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
Essential Functions :
- Performs clerical and support duties including filing, photocopying, requisitioning and storing supplies, collecting statistics, and entering patient charges.
- Accurately transcribes and processes Provider orders.
- Routinely audtits patient medical records for appropriate paperwork.
- Interacts with patients' families, significant others, and visitors to promote patient satisfaction.
- Monitors and maintains adequate supply of chart paperwork and patient educational handouts.
- Operates and manages office equipment to maintain efficiency.
- Assists in transporting paperwork and lab specimens.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
