Position Summary
The Project Manager / Estimator’s primary duty is to bid and secure Marine construction projects. Once projects are awarded, they manage the contract work from start to finish including scheduling, cost containment, monitoring progress, compliance, and client contact.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Seeks out / completes bid opportunities through client relationships and networking.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with current and potential clients.
- Estimates projects for bid submittal by reviewing plans and specifications, calculating quantities, and creating the bid.
- Coordinates pre-construction meetings to ensure communication among project managers, field, and office support.
- Obtains necessary permits and licensing.
- Manages costs by tracking labor, equipment, and materials.
- Manages billing with Project Coordinators for accuracy of invoicing.
- Communicates and meets EEO / DBE project requirements.
- Ensures all project aspects are met safely, on / under budget, and within the allowed time frame.
- Uses resources to troubleshoot project issues.
- Seeks approval for project change orders and manages changes to maintain profitability.
- Coordinates efforts with project owners / general contractors for timely project completion.
- Informs Veit’s Leadership on all matters of relative importance.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum 5+ years of related experience and / or training.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Construction Bidding and Project Management software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating information to all management levels.
- Ability to present information to top management, public groups, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to define problems, collect and document data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to develop and nurture lasting client relationships.
- Ability to maintain compliance with all Veit policies and procedures.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of Viewpoint Vista and HCSS construction software.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
Other
- Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
- Occasional travel and overnight stays to job sites.
- Compensation package commensurate with experience.
