Role SCADA Engineer Remote

Job description

You will be responsible for supporting the multi site high availability EMS system You will support and troubleshoot the operational SCADA environment and insuring optimized monitoring and reporting for solid system reliability You will be responsible for engaging with the customer guiding and leading them through solutions and ultimately delivering successful projects

Diagnoses complex problems develops and implements solutions in a GE Grid Energy Management System environment from list below Effectively understands relevant business processes so that they can be modeled in internal systems

Experience with at least two full life cycle implementations of GE Grid Energy Management System and experience in supporting 7x24 real time control system environments that manage the electric power grid

Experience in information systems operations architecture configuration or other area relevant to successful GE Grid Energy Management System implementation working in systems analysis and support or equivalent role

Performs complex and demanding tasks dealing with the analysis design configuration development and implementation of solutions serving business line and functional units

Carries out detailed system design and writes functional and technical requirements specs develops test plans and applies testing and quality monitoring procedures

Provides guidance to business and functional units in developing tests and training plans and materials

Provides day to day support to users and to junior configurators as well as drives improved user productivity through developing and implementing new business process and systems solutions

Proactively contributes to an overall IT strategy via direct experience in tactical projects and specific user requirements Responsible for the identification of and resolution of gaps in the business processes

Participates at the departmental level in line organization initiatives tactics and strategies to act as a liaison from the line organizations to IT for continued development of the internal systems

Mentors others and monitors other business or technical analysts in project software development methods and processes and aligns these processes with project needs

Provides necessary coordination facilitating interactive analysis and design sessions with representatives of business line and functional units

Manages interface activities with middleware systems and processes that connect to core systems

Works to create Centers of Excellence based on best practices

Acts as a champion in standards and methodology governance preforming code design and standard reviews for others within the department

Performs other duties as assigned

Additional Technology Specific Responsibilities and Requirements

A Strong understanding of NERC compliance requirements

Familiar with project and software development using ASAP or Agile methodologies and processes

Experience with one or more of the following protocols IP UDP TCP ICMP

Experience with Windows XP Windows Server 2003 2008 MS Project Microsoft Office applications SQL and email packages

Serves as a resource to programmers developers and Administrators in designing configuring and implementing an EMS system which supports the companys business and operational needs Provides leadership and guidance to subordinates

Deep understanding of project and software development ASAP or Agile methodologies and processes and may assist in aligning the process with project needs
