Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health invites applications for the position of Psychiattist . Located in Norfolk Virginia, Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is a leading community partner providing , , and treatment for children and teens exhibiting behavioral and / or mental health concerns.

Founded in 1986, Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is an 82-bed hospital facility accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), and licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).

Qualifications

Position Summary :

The clinic psychiatrist provides psychiatric treatment for clients in collaboration with the clinic clinical treatment team.

The psychiatrist identifies client treatment needs, provides medication assessments and adjustments, and utilization review as needed.

The Psychiatrist is responsible for assessments, treatment planning, psychopharmacological treatment and collaboration with providers to ensure that quality medical / psychiatric care is provided to all patients.

Essential Functions :

  • Performs diagnostic evaluations on clients
  • Demonstrates competency in providing services to assigned patients.
  • Participates in treatment planning, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Provides consultation and resolution to emergency situations
  • Gathers necessary information from patients, so that an effective and appropriate care plan will be implemented.
  • Monitors medication management including prescribing.
  • Document patient information in medical record in a timely manner.
  • Participates in employee staff development by providing relevant in-services.
  • Requires minimal supervision regarding use of time and ability to prioritize work assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with professionals and clients / families
  • Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations or with unpredictable or violent clients
  • Ability to make accurate assessments and provide appropriate treatment
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the agency, community and referral sources.
  • Works closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner to ensure proper medication management
  • Complies fully with the Utilization Review guidelines as mandated by DPH
  • Submits complete, accurate and timely billing information
  • Sets up schedule with the Clinic to visit on a consistent and timely basis
  • Consults and advises the clinical staff and Clinical Manager in regards to medication management
  • M.D. or O.D. Degree; Board Eligible or Board Certified Psychiatrist; professional experience of three years.
