Job Summary :

Loading / unloading trucks, railcars and barges with a variety of chemical products. Chemical operators will run a small batch manufacturing operation within the terminal.

Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities) :

• Load and unload barges, tank cars and tank trucks with a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.
• Running a small batch manufacturing process.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of paperwork associated with the manufacturing / unloading / loading operations.
• Contribute to safety and quality meetings.
• Identify maintenance work and work with the Terminal or Manufacturing Supervisors to facilitate repairs as necessary.
• Perform incidental maintenance work on equipment as needed.
• Perform minor maintenance work on buildings and property as needed.
• General housekeeping of work area and other misc. duties as necessary.

Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities) :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

Required :

• Completed High School degree.
• 0-4 Years of chemical manufacturing and / or distribution experience.
• 1-5 Years of manufacturing or other heavy industrial experience.
• Must be able to read / write / speak English.
• Must be proficient in basic mathematics.
• Must be able to pass a position based physical fitness test.
• Experience with driving OTR trucks either on the road or in a plant environment.
• Experience with Safety and / or Quality programs.
• Experience handling Chlor-Alkali, flammable / combustible, petroleum or other hazardous materials
• Experience with computer programs including Microsoft Office products, PLC’s.
