Summary :
Patient Access representatives facilitate a welcome andeasy access to the facility and are responsible for establishing anencounter for any patient who meets the guidelines for hospitalservice.
Patient Access staff ensures that all data entry isaccurate including demographic and financial information for eachaccount.
Patient Access has numerous procedural requirementsincluding data elements, insurance verification, authorization forservices, and collections for all patient portions including priorbalances.
Patient Access staff is responsible for the successfulfinancial outcome of all patient services. Patient Access isresponsible for ensuring the hospital maintains compliance withFederal regulations, JCAHO, and Department of Health and Hospitalcompliance standards.
Patient Access communicates directly withpatients and families, physicians, nurses, insurance companies andthird party payers.
This position requires professional appearance,and behavior, good communication and effective organizationalskills. Patient Access representatives require dependability,flexibility, and teamwork.
This advanced levelposition is designed to promote the demonstrated knowledge andcompetency of Patient Access duties in all areas, including ademonstrated ability to use good judgment in making independentdecisions to resolve customer issues in all routineoperations
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital -Westover Hills (CSRH-WH) is a 150-bed hospital serving the fastestgrowing area of San Antonio.
Specialized care includes orthopedicand surgical services, ICU, women’s services, a newborn nursery,comprehensive cardiovascular care from diagnostics to open heartsurgery, vascular lab, sleep center, emergency services, theCHRISTUS Weight Loss Institute, wound care, rehabilitation, andmore.
The campus also boasts an Outpatient Imaging Center and threemedical plazas, one of which houses our CHRISTUS Santa Rosa FamilyMedicine Residency Program and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family HealthCenter.
Requirements :
- High school diploma or equivalentrequired.
- Two years experience in PatientAccess, hospital registration, medical office, billing / collectionfunctions, or a comparable customer service related positionpreferred.
- Certified Healthcare AccessAssociate (CHAA) through National Association of HealthcareManagement (NAHAM) completed within first 6 months of employmentand no later than associates first anniversary.
Continuedemployment at PAR II level hinges on passing this certificationwithin stated timeframe and the bi-annual maintenance ofcertification.
