Position is for a full-time HR Coordinator - Safety and Worker's Compensation to work at EAH Corporate in San Rafael, CA.

This is a hybrid remote position. Qualified candidates should have a High school diploma or GED. Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)1-2 years’ office work experience, preferably in occupational health and safety.

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred.

Bilingual English / Spanish preferred. Salary range : $27.50 - $44.00 per hour; hiring range for new employees is generally $27.

50 - $44.00 per hour, DOE. Please note an offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate and the current salary level of individuals working at EAH in a similar role.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under general supervision and acting on own initiative, performs a wide variety of support and administrative activities in workers comp and safety.

Manages workers’ compensation claims and temporary alternative work program. Supports Safety Manager in promoting a safe and healthy work environment and a company culture that prioritizes safety.

Understands and supports EAH’s mission and core values.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Workers Compensation Claims Administration

Ensures that all workplace injuries are reported via Medcor, and that any injuries beyond first aid are reported to workers comp TPA.

Arranges for direct payment of first aid claims.

  • Ensures that any reports to OSHA are completed in a timely manner.
  • Reviews all injury reports and follows up on related documentation and forms, including entering data into UKG.
  • Contacts injured employees to make sure they understand next steps, their own responsibility in the claim process and that the coordinator is there to help with any questions.
  • Interfaces with occupational injury clinics to ensure high-quality service. Designates a clinic for each company location.

Adds new locations and assigned clinic information to Medcor contract.

  • Administers company reasonable suspicion and post.
  • Manages open claims by maintaining close communication with injured employees, adjuster, and supervisor. Loops in HRBP, benefits and payroll teams as appropriate and informs payroll when injured worker is out and receiving TTD.
  • Administers the Temporary Alternative Work program, helping managers identify modified work assignments and issuing timely offers of modified work, including utilizing worker-on loan / charity placement program.
  • Ensures that updated work status reports are received after each WC appointment and ensures that employees understand the next steps in the claims process.
  • Participates in quarterly claims review with broker and claim adjusters, emphasizing timely and effective case management and appropriate reserving practices.
  • Reviews claim reserves for appropriateness, paying particular attention to unit stat impact on experience modification.
  • Reviews ExMod work sheet for errors in incurred amounts.

Safety Administrative Support

  • Ensures the completion of new employee safety training in the learning management system.
  • Coordinates and facilitates safety training.
  • Works with Learning & Employee Development Manager to keep employee training up to date.
  • Works with Safety Manager and HR team to follow up on any safety-related employee disciplinary actions, as needed.
  • Tracks safety and workers comp results and produces reports.
  • Administers safety suggestion program and incentive program.
  • Ensures that incident reports are up to date. Communicates with relevant employees for completion of the outstanding reports.

Maintains excel database, organizes interviews, and follows up on outstanding reports and completion of recommendations.

If necessary, escalates issues until items are closed out.

  • Assists Safety Manager with ad hoc day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Ensures Cal / OSHA logs are kept current and posted as required by state law.
  • Pandemic response (e.g., COVID-19) - assists Safety and HR with communication with local and state public health departments as required.

Works with HR team on contact tracing and corresponding with affected employees.

  • Actively participates in EAH’s Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS

EAH Housing conducts criminal background checks on all candidates who have received a conditional job offer. Once you have received such an offer, you will be required to submit and pass our criminal background requirements.

EAH also verifies education and employment history. Any verified discrepancy (resume or online application) may delay your background check results and / or affect your eligibility to work at EAH.

Please be advised that certain roles may also require fingerprinting due to legal requirements. If onsite housing is a requirement of the position, any household members over 18 years of age who will be living onsite with the candidate must also undergo a criminal background check and tenant screening.

Satisfactory completion of background check and fingerprinting requirements is a requirement of employment with EAH.

DRUG TESTING

EAH Housing requires all candidates who have received a conditional job offer to submit to drug testing within 72 hours from acceptance of our job offer.

EAH Housing does not test for marijuana / cannabis. Satisfactory completion of drug testing is a requirement of employment with EAH.
