Please Note : The expected work hours for this position are rotating days from 2 : 30 p.m. to 11 : 00 p.m. This is an overtime-eligible shift.

Incumbent may be required to perform mandatory overtime shifts or callback hours.

This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.

Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty-four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify.

The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse 2 , you will provide resident-centered care and ensure that our Veterans at the Washington Veterans Home in Port Orchard are provided a safe and healthy space, treated with dignity and respect, and have care suited to their personal needs.

You will also assist and monitor assigned residents with activities of daily living based on current nursing standards of practice and with a heart for our mission.

Some of what you will be doing :

• Preparing, carrying out, evaluating, and revising treatment plans for individual residents based on personal observations and recommendations of physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and / or other nurses.
• Passing medications and administering, monitoring, and recording treatments, assessing resident condition (including skin assessment), and promoting resident participation in recreational activities.
• Suctioning patients, administering oxygen, catheterization, irrigation; administering IV solutions, colostomy and trach care;

maintaining gastric feeding tubes and pumps.

• Processing physician orders.
• Assisting with routine rehabilitative and maintenance care.

Required :

• Valid multistate LPN license or Washington State LPN license.
• Ability to :
• Speak, read, and write in the English language for medical charts and to perform data entry.
• Provide a positive living environment for residents relating to meeting psychosocial needs.
• Document and report observed changes in patient condition and behavior.

Preferred / Desired :

• Long-term care experience and / or one (1) year of experience as an LPN.
• Possess an understanding of accurate methods and practices of nursing and restorative care; personal hygiene and sanitation methods, recordkeeping, report preparation, infection control procedures, and client rights.
• Experience in assessing, evaluating, and participating in the development of appropriate plans of care.

• Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards.

Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.

• Must comply with health screening requirements by undergoing a tuberculosis skin test.
• Must maintain a valid LPN license and provide from the Washington State Department of Health.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and capable of reaching a minimum of 36" using proper techniques for resident repositioning or accessing supplies as necessary.
• Must be capable of pushing or pulling with sufficient strength; employee must be able to walk, sit, and bend in an unrestricted manner during the entire workday.
• Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
• Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
• This position is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees.
