Direct Counsel has partnered with a premier, nationally recognized law firm in their search for a mid-level associate (3-6 years of experience) to join its Commercial Litigation Practice in New York.
The candidate would work with some of the firm’s largest and well-known national clients across a broad range of industries.
As a member of the Commercial Litigation Team, the candidate will join a leading national law firm and work on complex litigation matters.

Requirements
- 1.Experience in complex commercial litigation including, but not limited to, business disputes (e.g., limited liability company, corporate and partnership disputes);
- real estate lending, financing and leasing disputes; fiduciary litigation; contract disputes; business tort disputes including fraud and breach of fiduciary duty;
noncompete and trade secret disputes, shareholder derivative disputes; and other types of commercial disputes and class actions
2.Excellent academic credentials and strong research, writing, oral advocacy, and discovery skills
3.Trial experience is a plus
4.Am Law 100 experience
5.A strong academic record, having earned a J.D. from a nationally recognized and accredited school; Law Review or Journal experience is a plus
6.Must have experience practicing in the Commercial Division of New York Supreme Court, New York County, and the United States District Court for the Southern and / or Eastern Districts of New York
7.Must be admitted to practice law in the state of New York
Ideal candidates will have demonstrated the following attributes :
1.Exceptional project management skills
2.Effective and persuasive writing and oral communication skills; law review or other comparable experience indicating significant research and writing skills a plus
3.Knowledge of all rules of practice, including the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules (CPLR), the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, the Rules of the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court, New York County, and the Local Civil Rules of the United States District Court for the Southern and / or Eastern Districts of New York
4.Ability to draft, with minimal supervision, pleadings, motion papers, discovery requests, settlement agreements, and other standard documents, pursuant to custom and practice in New York state and federal courts
5.Ability to manage a fast-paced, complex workload while maintaining priorities and anticipating issues
6.The professional commitment and interpersonal skills necessary to succeed in a collaborative team environment
7.Prior federal law clerk experience is a plus
Benefits
The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $245,000 - $345,000. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, experience level, education / training, and relevant skills.
Associates also participate in a performance and hours-based bonus program.
