Our client specializes in the manufacturing and servicing of a wide range of critical equipment, including transformers, generators, breakers, capacitor banks, and more.
As a testament to their remarkable growth, they are currently expanding their service center in the Boston, MA area (Westford, MA).
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing and repairing their equipment in the field.
Requirements :
- Technical certificate in an electrical or mechanical related field
- 3-5+ years of High Voltage Substations and equipment (>
69kV) - stand alone transformers / breakers (inside the fence) , doing field assignments, erection, testing and repair.
- Proven leadership experience coordinating and leading crew on electrical projects installation.
- Experience working with Power Utilities
- Reading of electrical drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of operating test equipment, such as CB timers, power factor, TTR, conductor, CT testers, Megger.
- Familiarity with Windows applications
- B.S. degree preferred, not required.
Responsibilities :
Perform field service operations that present usual or unusual problems requiring solid technical skills.
- Execute or supervise the installation and commissioning of high voltage substation equipment (69kV through 550kV)
- Supervise electricians and contractors.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on High Voltage equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment, applying own knowledge and experience.
- Perform and document field tests such as electrical tests, SF6 leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power factor, contact resistance.
- Compile and evaluate data to determine and resolve operating problems or malfunctions.
- Conduct inspections to determine necessary maintenance and repairs and assist in determining resource requirements.
- Develop recommendations and prepare written reports.
- Maintain detailed records and logs.
- Recommend changes such as new equipment or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
