Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Assistant Operations Manager with pipeline or terminal operations of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our team!
Role Summary :
The Assistant Operations Manager role is responsible for assisting the Operations Manager with assuring safe, reliable and environmentally conscious operations that are in compliance with Company mission, policy, and direction.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include :
- Daily Operations. Prioritizing and managing daily operations schedule and assuring safe operations by insisting on subordinate compliance with company safety and training policies.
- Pipeline and Terminal Maintenance. Assuring reliability of pipeline and terminal assets by timely maintenance in compliance with company and regulatory requirements and ensuring representation at appropriate Public Awareness Programs to help prevent third party damage.
- Environmental Compliance. Assuring environmental consciousness by compliance with policy to prevent any environmental contamination and by preparing for pipeline or terminal emergencies via training of work force and education of potential public emergency responders.
- Budgeting. Assuring efficient operations by developing economical responsibility expense and ordinary capital budgets and controlling expenses via efficient operations and maintenance within these limitations.
- Capital and Expense Projects . Assisting in the capital and expense projects within responsibility from inception through construction to turnover and operations.
- Company Spokesperson. Acting as company spokesperson to shippers and the public.
- Monitoring Loss / Gain. Ensuring loss / gain is properly monitored and any discrepancies resolved promptly.
- Vendor Relations. Managing contracts and coding invoices related to vendor and third party services and acting as point person for vendor related issues.
- Project Work. Supporting project related work including developing and reviewing scopes of work, submitting and approving bids, performing purchasing and order management.
- And other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements :
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 5 years Pipeline or Terminal Operations or the equivalent industry experience required.
- Significant technical troubleshooting experience required.
- Significant experience managing operations helpful.

- This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or / quantitative productivity standards.
- This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.
Physical & Safety Requirements :
- This role may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
- This position requires the employee to regularly access and work at or around heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, moving on-track rail equipment, petroleum product or other chemical fumes, airborne particles like dust or other chemicals, vibration, uneven terrain, and high noise level in the work environment.
- The incumbent must meet medical criteria established by OSHA for emergency response.
- This position may require exposure to hazardous environments and require the wearing of a respirator.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
- The incumbent in this role must be able to wear Fire Retardant Clothing (FRC) and / or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- The employee is frequently required to effectively communicate with others.
- This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol regulations
