About The Position

00 per week Experience : Not specified License : Required - Registered Pharmacy Technician - TX State Board of Pharmacy or Pharmacy Intern State Board of Pharmacy Certifications : Pharmacy Technician Certificate, IV Certification is preferred but not required Must-Have : Ability to read, write, and speak English Job Description : Assist the pharmacist in the preparation, repackaging, compounding, filling, and delivery of medications.
- Perform tasks related to dispensing medications, ensuring developmental appropriateness for the ages of patients served (0-adult).
- Assist with procurement, record keeping, storage, and distribution of all controlled substances.- Ensure appropriateness of all medication doses by correctly entering patient diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area in the computer.
- Follow aseptic technique and infection control in the preparation of sterile products.- Complete annual recertification and score at least 90% on aseptic technique / infection control skills and written exam, as documented by a qualified observer.
- Encourage other technicians and pharmacists to practice aseptic technique and infection control.- Ensure the medications prepared are correct as verified by the pharmacist and as documented by a lack of dispensing errors.
- Demonstrate competence in batch / medication / prescription order entry.- Work with Pharmacy Support Services personnel to maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies and follow procedures established for stock replacement.
- Follow non-formulary procedures.- Obtain pharmacist initial and final checks and assign dilution and expiration dating labels to medications according to department standards.
- Possess knowledge of current hospital and departmental standards for the handling of pharmaceuticals.- Demonstrate math skills, reading skills, and good communication skills.
- Operate equipment used in the preparation of sterile products.
