Responsibilities

Under general supervision of the Senior Director of Development for the Mike Curb College, the Director of Development is a member of the University Relations and Advancement team and a member of the Mike Curb College Development team.

The incumbent works in consultation and close coordination with the Senior Director of Development and Dean. The Director of Development is responsible for designing and carrying out a comprehensive fund development program aimed at identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and donors for major gifts to support priority areas within the college, including their academic departments and centers.

  • As a member of the University Relations and Advancement team, the Director of Development is responsible for working in a collegial and supportive manner with other university and college-based directors of development and working with donors to maximize their giving to any or all areas of the university as well as other academic units on campus including the Soraya fundraising team.
  • As a leader, demonstrates a commitment to student success that is mission aligned with the university’s vision, values and priorities.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible professional fundraising experience in a university development program, non-profit organization, or equivalent experience, preferably with a focus on the social and behavioral sciences.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership

  • Knowledge of community service and philanthropic organizations especially with an interest in education. Knowledge of and experience with campaign strategies and volunteer staffing desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivation and closure of major gifts and or high-end annual gifts from individuals and / or corporations.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with deans and department personnel, volunteers and alumni, campus administrators, and corporate business executives.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Superior interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and well organized.
  • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
  • Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE : $100,000 - $106,500 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
  • The position is currently hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and / or operational needs.
