About The Position
Job Title : Echo Technologist Job Specialty : Diagnostic Imaging Job Duration : Full Time Shift : Days, Evenings Guaranteed Hours : Experience : Minimum of 1 year License : Registered Cardiac Sonographer Certifications : Basic Life Support Must-Have : High School Diploma or GED, Successful completion of certification program and / or two years hands-on experience with echocardiography Job Description : - Perform direct patient cardiac diagnostic testing procedures with appropriate level of skill in a timely and dependable manner consistent with current standards of care and departmental and / or hospital policy and procedure.
- Provide age-specific care to patients of all ages and serve as a professional resource to physicians, nursing staff, and other hospital staff.
- Accurately perform all echocardiogram studies ordered by physicians, including Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, Exercise stress, and pharmacological echocardiography.
- Accurately perform other cardiac diagnostic studies as assigned, including EKG, Holter prep, monitoring and analysis, and Cardiac stress tests.
- Correctly utilize mechanical devices to provide the best diagnostic information to cardiology physicians, including echocardiographs, cardiac stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors, and computer analysis.
- Accurately access hospital information systems for scheduling, processing, and correct charging of all studies. - Implement appropriate infection control practices and demonstrate a working knowledge of aseptic techniques and equipment disinfection.
- Interact with students from contracted colleges and universities, providing preceptorship and clinical guidance as per contracted agreements.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform cardiac diagnostic tests following age-specific guidelines and procedures, particularly with neonatal and pediatric patients.
- Fulfill all other duties assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities. Experience with both pediatric and neonatal echocardiography in a hospital setting is preferred.
Completion of a certificate program in Cardiovascular Sonography is also preferred.
