Summary :

UNIT DETAILS (ICU- Appleton Hospital) :

Appleton ICU is a 22 bed, fast paced, general medical / surgical / cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Each nurse cares for 1-2 patients while delivering holistic primary care nursing to both the patients and families.

Job Description : SCHEDULE :

SCHEDULE :

  • DAY Shift (7a-7p)
  • Every 3rd weekend requirement
  • 2-3 holidays per year

The Telemetry Technician is responsible for continuous electrocardiographic monitoring, interpretation, and notification of patients' heart rhythms.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :

1. Performs continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms from a centralized telemetry department.

2. Skillfully recognizes and interprets cardiac rhythms.

3. Completes measurement and documentation per policy and department standards.

4. Effectively communicates with members of the care team regarding the rhythm interpretation.

5. Provides customer service including responding to frequent and potentially complex questions from internal and external customers in a timely, positive, and professional manner.

6. Assists in supporting daily department workflow through effective coordination, communication, and prioritization of department activities.

7. Collaborates with biomedical and information services to maintain and troubleshoot electronic monitoring equipment.

8. Performs daily inventory and cleaning of telemetry monitoring boxes.

QUALIFICATIONS :

High School diploma or GED preferred. Must be 18 years of age.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
