Job Summary :

This permanent full-time position in the University of Colorado, School of Medicine, Department of Pathology, to be based at the University of Colorado Hospital in the Department of Pathology Anatomic Pathology laboratory.

The recruit will serve as an attending pathologist and educate others in hepatic and liver transplant pathology, pancreatic, biliary and tubular GI pathology.

The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team, inclusive of senior liver and GI pathologists, clinicians and surgeons thus strong communication and professional skills are expected.

Given the acute nature of the work, night and weekend call in rotation with other attending pathologists will be required.

The academic appointment, at rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, requires the candidate to have significant medical training and experience, and excel in clinical activities, teaching and scholarship.

Key Responsibilities :

  • 60% Attending pathologist based in the Department of Pathology Surgical Pathology Laboratory at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH), in the subspecialty of hepatic and liver transplant pathology, pancreatic, biliary and tubular GI pathology.
  • 10% Provide clinical consultation to peers in pathology, colleagues in other subspecialties at Multidisciplinary Conferences (MDC), and others in subspecialty areas of anatomic pathology.
  • 10% Engage in teaching activities, including small and large group didactic conferences, one on one teaching of medical students, residents and fellows.

This includes joining faculty of residency in pathology, as well as fellowships in surgical pathology and hepatic, pancreatic, biliary and tubular GI pathology.

This may include service on program committees, participation in the teaching, evaluation and curriculum review for these programs.

  • 10% Engage in scholarship, as broadly defined in the matrix of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. You are not expected to acquire external funding, however, you may participate in funded research and also apply for pilot funding through Department of Pathology programs.
  • 10% Participate as the on call attending in anatomic pathology on-call coverage after hours, serve as the attending pathologist in subspecialty coverage call as well as transplant pathology (semi-voluntary).

Work Location : This role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Minimum Qualifications :

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below :

Assistant Professor :

The successful candidate must be board certified in anatomic pathology and candidates who are fellowship trained in gastrointestinal and liver pathology will be considered.

Associate Professor :

  • The successful candidate must be board certified in anatomic pathology and candidates who are fellowship trained in gastrointestinal and liver pathology will be considered.
  • At least 6 years of experience in academic gastrointestinal, pancreaticobiliary, and liver pathology is required.
  • Clinical, teaching and scholarship accomplishments sufficient for an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, regular (tenure eligible) track required.

Professor :

  • The successful candidate must be board certified in anatomic pathology and candidates who are fellowship trained in gastrointestinal and liver pathology will be considered.
  • At least 10 years of experience in academic gastrointestinal, pancreaticobiliary, and liver pathology is required.
  • Clinical, teaching and scholarship accomplishments sufficient for an appointment at the rank of Professor, regular (tenure eligible) track required.

Preferred Qualifications :

At least one year post-fellowship practice experience is strongly desired

Anticipated Pay Range :

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE :

Assistant Professor : $225,000-$250,000

Associate Professor : $240,000-$300,000

Professor : $300,000-$350,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
