Anesthesia Technician - Days - Full-Time

At Houston Methodist the AnesthesiaTechnician (AT) position provides support to the anesthesiaproviders and other members of the interprofessional health careteam and is directly involved in patient care before during andafter procedures.

This position assists with anesthesiarelatedprocedures troubleshooting of anesthesiarelated equipment and setup operation and initiation of patient monitoring in allanesthetizing locations e.

g. OR Cath Lab Endoscopy etc. as well asin preoperative units postanesthesia care units and intensive careunits as deemed necessary or as assigned.

The AT position isfamiliar with all anesthetizing locations anesthesia supplies andanesthesia and other related equipment ensuring that assignedlocations and items are ready available and in good workingconditions at all times.

SERVICEESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performsanesthesia support activities in all monitoring and anesthesialocations including but not limited to operating roomscatheterization laboratories intensive care units and other patientcare areas where anesthesia isperformed.
• Performscomplete operating / procedure room patient monitoring and anesthesiaequipment set up.
• Sets upcalibrates as necessary and checks the performance of allmonitoring and anesthesia equipment before connecting to thepatient.

QUALITY / SAFETYESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Cleansand disinfects equipment and work areas between patients followinginfection control standards and departmentprocedures.
• Organizes thework flow problemsolves and manages ongoing priorities with minimalsupervision seeking guidance whenneeded.
• Reports nearmisses and inputs error promptly into TAPS to improve processes andidentify trends. Contributes to identification of correctiveactions and improvementactivities.
• Contributes tomeeting department and hospital targets for quality andsafety.

FINANCE ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

• Ensures thatanesthetizing areas and anesthesia services work stations are putback together organized properly and ready for use as soon aspossible after each case including but not limited to keepingmonitor cables stored neatly ensuring that anesthesia gases areturned off unused supplies are restocked properly and equipment areput back in designatedplaces.
• Utilizes resourceswith cost effectiveness and value creation in mind. Selfmotivatedto independently manage time effectively minimizing incidentalovertime and prioritize daily tasks assisting coworkers asneeded.

GROWTH / INNOVATIONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Participates incommittees and task forces as assigned and action items areappropriately performed. Follows up on action items as necessary toensure completion ofassignments.
• Seeksopportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies witha focus on continual development as a Technician / Technologist.

Ensures own career discussions occur with appropriate management.Completes and updates the My Development Plan on an ongoingbasis.

EDUCATION

HighSchool diploma or equivalent education (examples include : GEDverification of homeschool equivalency partial or full completionof postsecondary educationetc.)

WORKEXPERIENCE

One year ofhospital experience if not certified; no experience if certifiedthrough the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists &Technicians (ASATT)
