Position Summary
The Financial Research Director will partner with Huron Business Advisory (HBA) practice Managing Directors and play a crucial role in driving business development efforts by providing deep financial research insights (identifying holdings, capital structures, activity, analyzing trends, assessing market performance, etc.
and strategic support for sales meetings and potential opportunities, while maintaining up-to-date information on leads and actionable opportunities based on public and private information sources.

Qualifications
Client Prospect & Opportunity Identification :
Support HBA leadership by maintaining and updating industry watch lists and conduct research on target companies, including coordinating and preparing the creation of tear sheets.
Utilize a variety of research tools (Bloomberg, PitchBook, CapIQ) to identify high-potential client companies aligned with practice focus areas.
Partner with the practice leadership to develop comprehensive profiles of target clients, including financial health, industry trends, and decision-making factors.
Conduct in-depth financial analysis of potential client opportunities, leveraging market data and industry reports.
Financial Analysis & Research :
Independently conduct and interpret financial research to support creation of client pitches and presentations.
Partner with external research providers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial reports and analysis.
Monitor market trends and competitor activity within the practice's focus areas, identifying emerging opportunities.
Regularly disseminate market intelligence reports with actionable insights for the practice team.
Independently conduct additional research initiatives to look for potential targets (e.g., SPACs, loan maturities, cross-lists for specific lenders and other investors, etc.)
Assist in the preparation of bespoke analyses and summaries for calls and meetings with attorneys, lenders, investors and other potential clients and referral sources.
Improve the quality and the success of the practice’s business development efforts :
Serve as the lead coordinator and direct the creation of company specific content for pitches
Assist the industry vertical leaders with the coordination of thought leadership documents.
Directly develop focused pitch materials to proactively offer solutions and highlight relevant cases to each referral source
Work closely with leadership developing the presentation to improve our ability to deliver engaging and impactful pitches
Monitor market developments for all Business Advisory focus areas and disseminate appropriate information as well as recommend action items based on that information
Qualifications :
Extensive experience in a financial research, distressed debt analyst, credit analyst, equity research, financial advisory, or finance-related sales enablement role.
Prior experience in restructuring & turnaround consulting, investment banking, or similar special situations financial advisory roles highly desirable.
In-depth knowledge and expertise in fundamental financial research, financial analysis, and understanding financial markets and trends
Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to independently synthesize complex information into actionable insights and recommendations.
Proficient research experience using research databases such as Capital IQ, Bloomberg, PitchBook, amongst others
Solid process improvement capabilities : documentation, measurement, and analysis
Exceptional and persuasive written and oral communication skills
Adept at multi-tasking within a high expectation and fast-paced environment

Candidates may live anywhere in the contiguous US note this in a non-billable role with limited travel required.
The estimated base salary range for this job is : $140,000 - $200,000 for Director level, $180,000 - $250,000 for Senior Director level.
The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting.
The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy.
Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is : $175,000 - $270,000 for Director level, $225,000 - $337,500 for Senior Director level.
The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs.
The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
