CNC Operator Job Description
Overview
A CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining computer-controlled machines that fabricate parts and components to precise specifications.
They interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring quality and efficiency in production.
Responsibilities
Machine Setup : Set up CNC machines according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.Load and unload raw materials onto machines.
Adjust machine settings to achieve desired tolerances and finishes.
Machine Operation : Monitor machine operations to ensure accurate and efficient production.Detect and troubleshoot machine malfunctions.
Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to prevent downtime.
- Quality Control : Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards.Identify and report any defects or inconsistencies.
- Documentation : Complete necessary paperwork, including production records, quality inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
- Safety : Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations.Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in CNC machine operation, preferably with experience in specific CNC machine types, e.g., lathes, mills .
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in CNC machining.
- Experience with programming CNC machines using CAM software.
- Knowledge of various machining processes and tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
