Case Manager

Full-time - Days

The Case Manager provides utilization review services in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the facility.

The Case Manager evaluates patient medical records to determine severity of patient's illness and determines the appropriateness of level of care.

Serves as liaison for patients and hospital with insurance companies. Negotiates and advocates for patient length of stay and level of care.

Oversees utilization review activities with other departments to ensure reimbursement for services provided by the hospital.

Qualifications

Education :

Licensed RN; Master's Degree in a Behavioral Health related field (QMHP)

Experience :

3-5 years of experience preferred in psychiatric health care. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience managing a Clinical team.

Licensure / Certification :

Licensure as a Registered Nurse in state of Mississippi and CPR Certification.

Knowledge :

Excellent customer service and communication skills (i.e., verbal and written). Ability to prioritize and work well under periods of high stress and pressure.

Ability to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Thorough knowledge of psychiatric services and medical capabilities provided by the hospital.

Ability to work flexible hours. Requires ability to utilize Department specific electronic applications; and data analytic skills.

Experience reviewing medical and clinical information to staff appropriately with physician is required. Provides effective leadership within the Referral Management Center (RMC) and the ability to organize RMC Staff to effectively and timely serve patients, families, and referral sources through the referral process.

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures. This includes assisting the Director of Admissions with interviewing, hiring, and training of new employees as well as scheduling, appraising performance, disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems within the RMC.
