Description : The Wexxar Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining Wexxar case erectors and sealers to ensure efficient and accurate packaging of food products. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production flow and ensuring product quality and packaging standards are met.

Department : Production

Reports To : Business Unit Manager

Education and Experience :

  • High School Diploma / GED preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing and equipment operations (food manufacturing experience preferred)
  • Speak, read, and write in English

Work Hours :

  • 1st Shift : 3 : 00am-3 : 20pm
  • 2nd Shift : 3 : 00pm-3 : 20am
  • Work Environment : This job operates in a food production and warehouse setting. The floor surface is concrete. The noise level is moderate with no vibration. Material movement takes place throughout the facility.

    Physical Demands :

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work on their feet, while using tools to perform repetitive actions
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects as assigned by position.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate bagging equipment.
  • Reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally.
  • Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching.
  • Seeing to monitor food quality and quantity.
  • The ability to stand and walk for an entirety of a shift.
  • Competencies :

  • Technical Proficiency : Demonstrates understanding of Wexxar machinery and performs machine setup, adjustments and troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
  • Quality Assurance : Maintains high standards for packaging accuracy and product integrity while being able to identify and address packaging defects or inconsistencies verifying everything follows GMP, HACCP, and company-specific quality protocols.
  • Safety Awareness : Adheres to all workplace safety regulations and food standards. Recognizing and reporting potential hazards or unsafe conditions while utilizing PPE appropriately.
  • Attention to Detail : Monitors Wexxar performance and packaging output accuracy and ensuring correct case labeling, sealing and product orientation based on the customer standards.
  • Problem Solving : Diagnoses and resolves minor equipment malfunctions. Escalates complex issues and continuously looks for ways to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Core Responsibilities :

  • Maintain all GMP and Food Safety rules at all times .
  • Be the example in following GMPs, OSHA Safety, and all other procedures.
  • Take appropriate corrective measures to reduce and eliminate quality issues in a timely fashion.
  • Keep management informed of any errors or issues in the mixing process.
  • Set up, operate , and monitor Wexxar case erectors and sealers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on Wexxar equipment.
  • Ensure proper case forming, sealing, and labeling according to production specifications.
  • Inspect packaging for quality assurance and report any defects or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Collaborate with line workers, machine operators, and supervisors to meet daily production goals.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions.
  • Follows Company, GMP and Safety policies to ensure compliance with the HACCP program, AIB and other regulatory requirements.
  • Follows all food safety principles and legal requirements.
  • Verifies code dates, sealing , product weight, and product appearance, is within specified parameters and conform to clients' expectations.
  • Verifies equipment is in good working condition; communicates to management any deficiencies noted.
  • Performs visual inspection of product ensuring quality is acceptable.
  • May assist in the training of new personnel.
  • Coordinate with packing / stacking team for break relief
  • Integrity in accuracy in documentation
  • Handles NetSuite documentation and completions.
  • Follow OSHA Safety Regulation and Safety Rules.
  • Report safety concerns to management or Safety Committee
  • Respons ible for moving finished pallets from stacking area to Forklift pick up area
  • Other duties as assigned by plant management.
