Summary : The Director of Compensation is responsible for directing the strategic planning, design, implementation, maintenance, compliance, communication and administration of staff compensation consistent with the organization’s human capital objectives.

The Director of Compensation will collaborate with Departments on workforce and organization planning. This position reports to the Senior Director of Total Rewards & Service Delivery.

This position will work closely with the AVP of Human Resources, the Human Resources Teams, in particular Recruiting and Total Rewards & Service Delivery to ensure a cohesive total compensation strategy and excellence in operations.

This position will also have frequent interactions with leaders and managers in departments across campus. Essential Functions : Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Support design and administer the staff compensation program that is competitive with the market and enables management to employ, motivate and reward a highly skilled workforce.

Ensure program supports AU’s human capital objectives and is current with trends, practices, and costs.

Establish salary structures, project salary budgets, and prepare policies and procedures to support AU’s human capital objectives.

Benchmark AU policies within the higher education industry and employers in the local area.

Consult to AU leadership, managers, and HR Representatives to evaluate and implement organizational changes, and to create and revise positions.

Maintain update to date job analyses to ensure appropriate market pricing and assignment with the salary structure.

Manage the annual compensation projects including the annual merit process.

Conduct manager training on compensation related topics.

Monitor changes in the laws and regulations and ensure compliance. Ensure that compensation processes are efficient, transparent and well understood by leaders, managers and staff.

Supervises 2 FT Compensation Analysts.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :

Full-Time, 35 hours per week.

Exempt.

Salary Range :

$112,252-$160,000 annually.

Required Education and Experience :

Bachelor's degree.

At least 8 years progressively responsible experience in compensation or equivalent in education, training and experience.

High proficiency in consultation skills, executive coaching, customer service skills, strategic communications, collaboration, interpersonal and management skills, committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive community.

Knowledge, understanding and application of Federal and State employment laws.

High proficiency in financial analysis, modeling and budgeting.

High proficiency in data analytics and use of excel.

Experience in design, development, implementation and administration of all types of compensation programs.

Preferred Education and Experience :

Master's degree.

Experience working with Workday, JDXpert, and Payscale / MarketPay.
