Job Overview :
An LVN / LPN provides basic medical care under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and physicians. Responsibilities include patient care, medication administration, and assisting with procedures.
Responsibilities :
- Provide bedside care such as taking vital signs, applying bandages, dressing wounds, and providing personal hygiene assistance.
- Monitor patients for changes in health status and report any concerns to the supervising nurse or physician.
- Assist patients with mobility, bathing, dressing, and other activities of daily living.
- Dispense prescribed medications and monitor their effects.
- Ensure proper documentation of all medications administered.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards for medication handling, including controlled substances.
- Assist physicians and RNs in medical procedures, such as drawing blood, taking electrocardiograms (EKGs), and inserting catheters.
- Prepare patients and examination rooms for medical procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Document patient care activities and responses to treatment.
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in healthcare documentation.
- Provide education to patients and families on managing their conditions.
- Explain medications and treatment plans in a way that is easy to understand.
Education :
Completion of a state-approved LVN / LPN program.
Licensure :
Active LVN / LPN license in the state of practice.
Certifications :
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
Experience :
- 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting.
- Experience with opioid addiction centers or similar settings (preferred for some roles).
