The Graduate Assistant (GA) will work 20 hours per week and receive up to 24 credits of tuition and student fee waivers : 9 for fall, 9 for spring and 6 for summer.
Responsibilities
- Updating and maintaining databases containing contact information for tennis facilities, tennis coaches, tennis participants, and BSU PTM and Coaching, and Coaching Education program alumni
- Creating, monitoring, and maintaining a web resource of PTM and Coaching internship opportunities
- Collaborate with faculty on research projects seeking to increase physical activity through quality recreational and competitive sport programs for people of all ages and abilities, and / or to increase participation opportunities for underrepresented or underserved groups
- Other administrative activities that support the MS in Physical Education, PTM and Coaching concentration graduate and PTM minor program enrollment goals
Other Information The graduate assistant may be required to travel to local community sites (e.g., recreation departments, schools), and must complete certification as a USTA Net Generation coach.
There are no physical restrictions to be eligible for USTA Net Generation certification. The GA may be required to travel to off-campus PTM sites.
Reports to Jennifer Mead, DGCE Chair for both Health & Physical Education, and PTM and Coaching Education.
- Enrolled in the MS in Physical Education or the PTM Graduate Certificate.
- Experience in sport management, coaching, health promotion, or community outreach.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must have experience stringing tennis racquets or be willing to learn the skill.
