Responsibilities
A Residential Loan Officer is responsible for evaluating, authorizing, and servicing a wide variety of mortgage, real estate, construction, and consumer loan types for customers while building strong relationships and providing excellent service.
Residential Loan Officers provide guidance to customers on different types of loans and credit options available, as well as the terms of those services.
This position stays apprised of any applicable government or third party programs that may be available for customers' lending needs to compliment the bank's products.
Types of lending to customers may include mortgage, real estate, construction, HELOC, auto, or personal. This position entails collecting and thoroughly analyzing applicant tax and financial statements, credit histories, collateral, and more to determine financial status.
Residential Loan Officers may analyze and approve loans within specified limits or refer to management for special approvals and will confer with Loan Processors during the underwriting process.
This position will work alongside the bank's Loan Support staff to collaborate with with attorneys, abstractors, insurance companies, closing companies, and more throughout the loan process to ensure timelines are met.
A sales background will be beneficial within this position in locating prospects and marketing loans and other bank products to individuals.
This position is open to mid- to experienced- level candidates.)
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years in a comparable mortgage lending or underwriting related position at a financial institution.
- Strong connection to the Metro and Norwalk area.
- Active in the Norwalk community.
- Self-starter, motivated to grow individual portfolio and overall branch business.
- Ability to listen to customer requests and process efficiently and accurately.
- Ensure community members, new clients, and customers are connected to the bank's individuals and resources they may require and cross sell services that may fit their needs.
- Ability to multi-task and handle a multitude of accounts and clients at all times.
- Communicate effectively and satisfy customer inquiries in a professional manner.
- Ability to contribute to a team-oriented, positive work environment.
- Keep apprised and follow all established policies, procedures, and State and Federal regulations.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance.
- Ability to operate Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge, experience, and interest in banking procedures and the ever-changing banking industry.
- Reside within a 25 mile radius from the designated office or willing to relocate - please include location / relocation details in cover letter or resume submission.
- HS Diploma or GED required.
Desired Skills
- Minimum of 1+ years of mortgage or consumer loan processing experience at a financial institution.
- Experience in Jack Henry core systems.
- Experience in Byte and Laser Pro loan systems.
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree in a related field.
- Bilingual abilities.
Additional Info
At-Will, Full-Time position based on 40 hours per week. Loan officers are scheduled to work Saturdays on a rotating basis.
When scheduled on a Saturday, compensating time off is given during the week worked.
- Schedule is 8AM-4 : 30PM M-F; 8AM-11AM Sat.
- Travel : Some.
