This opportunity will support our Clinical Health and Safety team for our Colorado Springs Clinics. This role will be based out of our Medical Services Office in Downtown Colorado Springs and will visit clinics across the Pikes Peak Region.
On occasion, it will float to assist our Denver team as needed.
New Teammate Orientation (NTO) :
Responsible for set-up and clean-up of orientation materials, presentation of orientation material and completion of FIT testing / colorblind screening.
Collects, completes, and files new teammate documentation.
Medical Assistant Apprentice Program :
Reports to Clinical Health and Safety (CHS) manager and works closely with apprenticeship educator, UHG early careers, and clinical leadership to optimize success of the medical assistant apprenticeship
program. Provides guidance to all medical assistant apprentices and clinical staff involved in the medical assistant apprentice program.
Supports established policies, procedures, and standards of patient
care. Provides skill instruction and evaluates the competency of medical assistant apprentices maintaining facility compliance with Federal and State regulations, as well as supporting compliance with OptumCare policies and guidelines.
Oversees daily education and clinical activities of the medical assistant apprentice ensuring completion of trainings, licensure, and certification.
Medical Assistant Extern Program :
Works closely with medical assistant program leaders, clinical leadership, and CHS staff to optimize success of the medical assistant extern program.
Coordinates student placement and provides preceptor training. Provides guidance to all medical assistant externs and clinical staff involved in the medical assistant extern program.
Supports students in applying to open MA position at the completion of externship. Collects, completes, and files all extern and preceptor documentation.
Department support to clinical health and safety (CHS) :
Provides support to clinical health and safety team as assigned by CHS RN manager. Supports the clinical education team examples of support may include coordinates life support classes, supports student placement, provides in clinic education, collects, completes, and files all clinic and classroom documentation and orders department supplies.
Supports the employee health and infection prevention team examples of support may include performs initial and annual N95 Fit Testing, supports vaccination clinics, supports High Level Disinfection audits, and supports invoice and data management.
Supports the Practice Health Safety team examples may include supports clinic assessment preparation, reviews lab quality control and temperature logs, and monitors expired supplies.

provides preceptor training, continued development coaching, and constructive feedbackEvaluates Medical assistant apprentice in clinic setting and provides development coaching, skills instruction, and constructive feedbackSupports medical assistant apprentice in applying to, interviewing for, and transferring into the clinic settingProvides support to clinic managers regarding the evaluation process for the medical assistant apprenticeProvides continued support to medical assistant apprentice, preceptors, and clinic leadership throughout entire apprenticeship
- Medical Assistant Extern Program :
- Coordinates with MA program and CHS staff to establish affiliation agreements and complete onboarding paperworkCoordinates with school representatives and clinic managers to place students in externship rolesRecruits and coach’s medical assistant preceptors;
provides preceptor training, continued development coaching, and constructive feedbackCoordinates with the school representative, preceptor, and clinic manager to review extern progressInitiates and supports medical assistant extern in applying to active MA roles within the organizationMaintains metrics for the MA extern program

Required Qualifications :
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of MA experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and database management skills
- Proven ability to demonstrate and maintain compliance with the performance standards and responsibilities
- Proven ability to exercise judgement to prioritize workload with limited direction
- Proven ability to act and serve as a role model and facilitator

Working Conditions : Normal office or clinic environment. Core onsite with travel to variety of clinic and administrative building locations approximately 75% of the time.
Colorado Residents Only : The hourly range for this role is $19.47 to $38.08 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.
